AIT Wins CSeries FAL Tooling Contract
AIT AWARDED TOOLING CONTRACT FOR BOMBARDIER* CSERIES* AIRCRAFT FINAL ASSEMBLY LINE
Automated Assembly Systems provide flexible/scalable solution
PLANO, TX, - Sept. 14, 2010 - Advanced Integration Technology (AIT), a leading industrial automation company delivering fully integrated plant floor systems to the aerospace industry, has been selected by Bombardier to provide tooling for the CSeries aircraft Final Assembly Line (FAL) in their Mirabel, Québec, facility just outside of Montréal. The single-aisle CSeries family of aircraft is specifically designed to meet the growing needs of the 100- to 149-seat commercial aircraft market segment.
For the CSeries aircraft FAL, AIT will deliver Automated Assembly Systems that join the nose and rear fuselages to the center fuselage, as well as the left- and right-hand wings to the center wing box. The AIT systems will include a combination of fixtures and automated alignment positioners for the final assembly and subassemblies, such as fuselage sections, wings, engines and fairings, through four automated assembly stations in the FAL. AIT builds flexible alignment and precision positioning systems for large aircraft assembly used in hundreds of installed systems worldwide.
“This contract represents another important vote of confidence from Bombardier in our ability to offer a demonstrated solution for the CSeries aircraft FAL,” said AIT President Ed Chalupa. “The strength of our expertise with tooling for the final assembly of aircraft, advanced structures and scalable, flexible technology proved essential to Bombardier’s choice.”
AIT’s proven experience with final assembly lines for a variety of aircraft sizes and geometries includes the Boeing 787, the Bombardier Challenger 300* jet, the F-35 JSF, as well as pre-assembly of the new Bombardier Learjet 85* business jet.
